SUMMERMAXXING
For me, July means full summer mode activated. As the temperatures climb, it's all about doing the most with the absolute least. High output, low energy. Working smarter, not harder.
As a social media manager, I've spent years perfecting the art of making things look their best with just a few thoughtful touches. These are my favorite summer shortcuts that create a lasting impression with very little effort.
Themed Parties
Themed parties are one of my favorite ways to bring maximum excitement with minimal effort. Have a "Favorites Party" where everyone brings their favorite dish. It's an instant conversation starter because everyone gets to share why they chose what they brought, and it means you're only responsible for one dish instead of feeding an entire party.
It takes the pressure off and makes entertaining feel way more approachable.
Pro tip: For a casual bestie hang, drop a message in the group chat like: "I just got the More is More cookbook from SANDSTONE and everything looks delicious. Should we each pick a recipe to make for Love Island night?
Speaking of easy entertaining, for your next BBQ, create a signature cocktail. Instead of setting up an entire bar, you only need ingredients for one drink, and somehow it looks like you put in way more effort than you actually did.
Pro tip: Let guests know what the signature cocktail is ahead of time so they can bring their favorite drink if they prefer something different.
Summer Fashion
Summer fashion is all about the details, but honestly, it's too hot to overthink it.
I love a top with a little personality — something you can style the same way you'd style a basic polo, but the details do all the heavy lifting.
Pro tip: Take a risk and maximize comfort. I'm loving delicate-meets-sporty right now. A frilly top with athletic shorts paired with ballet flats is giving effortless street style, and you get to be comfortable.
Thats a win-win!
Create a Signature Scent
The first thing people notice when they walk into your home is the scent.
You don't need to redecorate or start an extreme home makeover before your next get-together. You just need a good candle.
We've all been in a store or stayed at a hotel where we can't remember what we bought or what we ordered from room service, but we absolutely remember the scent. That lingering, heavenly smell becomes part of the experience.
Do that with your home.
Find your signature scent and create your own ambiance.
Pro tip: Think beyond just one candle. Layer complementary scents throughout your home so each room has its own unique personality. It instantly elevates the experience and makes your space feel intentionally curated. An easy way to pair scents that work well together is by shopping SANDSTONE candles by vessel color — The amber glass candles tend to have warmer, woodier notes, while the white vessels lean fresh and more floral. (My fav combo is Santal, No Vacancy, and Cowboy)
Expert tip: Light the good candles for yourself. Romanticize your life. Don't wait for company to enjoy the "special" candle. You deserve to enjoy your space when you're home alone, too.
Instamaxx Your Summer
If you're anything like me, your screen time is through the roof.
Everyone wants to see what you're up to this summer, so why not look your best while documenting it? As someone who is chronically online, here are my favorite ways to instantly elevate your content.
First and foremost, clean you camera lens!
It's such an easy fix, and you'd be shocked by how many people take a great photo through a dirty lens.
Next, play around with your camera settings. Learning a few basic capture settings can dramatically improve your photos. I love lowering the exposure just a touch for a more cinematic look.
Pro tip: If you're not fully comfortable on camera, head to Pinterest for inspiration. Look for poses, outfit ideas, and content concepts. And if you never know what to do with your hands, props are your best friend. Hold your coffee. Carry a tote bag.
Create Something
Summer is also a great time to unwind.
Burnout happens, and for me, summer is when I regain inspiration. One thing that always helps is creating something just for fun.
Maybe that's putting together a playlist. Music is so nostalgic — hearing a song can instantly transport you back to a specific moment in time. Create a playlist filled with your current favorites and revisit it a few months from now. You'll be surprised how vividly it captures this season of your life.
Lately, I've also been really into junk journaling.
Our phones are overflowing with photos that never make it out of the camera roll. There's something special about turning those digital memories into something physical that you can revisit years later.
Pro tip: The next time you're out with friends, bring a disposable camera. It's a fun way to stay present in the moment, and getting the photos developed feels like opening a little time capsule. Plus, sharing those photos in the group chat afterward feels way more personal and authentic than sending 45 iPhone photos.
