Trend Forecast: 100º + Hawt

Hey there, it's Brett. (If you don't get that reference, you should probably go follow our Instagram immediately.)

I run the SANDSTONE social media pages, and I'm chronically online. So consider me your boots-on-the-ground trend reporter. I spend hours scrolling so you don't have to.

As we head toward the end of summer (tears), I'm noticing what I like to call "Collective Nostalgia". It's a personal kind of collective—an updated take on boho, but not in a Yesteryear way. It's more traveled, layered, colorful...less beige, ruffles, boring. Think mixed prints, color, texture, pieces that look intentionally undone...or completely done. Honestly, we're never quite sure. It's all about details, layers, and personalization. The end result? A vibe.

Now...this trend can go sideways very quickly, and we don't want anyone looking like they accidentally joined the circus. So here are a few tips.

1. Find a common color.
It doesn't need to be matchy-matchy, but choose one color that ties everything together so the look feels intentional—but don't play it safe and add some unpredictable flair. Example: Valley Guaze Pants, Viticcio Blouse, Leave No Trace Camp Hat, Bryce Bucket Bag with a sneaker.

2. Pick one thing to exaggerate.
If it's your makeup, choose one feature to go bold while keeping everything else soft. If it's your bag, make it the moment. Add charms, accessories, and let it have its main-character energy. Check out the Western Charm and Wonderlust Wristlet for inspiration.

3. Jewelry is key. More is more.
Stack the bracelets. Wear the chunky rings. Layer the necklaces. And yes...if you're like, this might trigger some early 2000's flashbacks. But instead of thinking "statement necklaces", think of them as layering pieces that tell a story. And don't forget your feet—toe rings, anklets, and shoe/sandal charms are the easiest way to add that eclectic, collected look with minimal effort. And go bold...we may later regret saying that, but you will be so on trend now!

I can't believe we're already talking about fall, but this one is made for Californians. Mornings and evenings are chilly, but somehow the afternoons are still 95 degrees. The trend? Shorts with EVERYTHING. Pair your favorite shorts with an oversized leather jacket or a chunky knit sweater for that effortless, off-duty model vibe that's about to be everywhere. Think summer on the bottom, fall on top.

The trick to making it look intentional instead of like you got dressed in the dark is to swap the flip-flops for a boot. A sleek moto boot instantly grounds the outfit, making it feel polished, cool, and perfectly transitional. Don't be surprised if people stop you to ask where your outfit is from.

Now...trigger warning for anyone who survived the early 2000's: Scarves are coming back.

Yes, those scarves. Super thin ones that somehow served absolutely no purpose. They've slowly been creeping into my Instagram For You page, and while we all swore we'd never wear them again...maybe this is also a reminder that we don't actually have to follow every single trend. But we do love the idea of it, so a printed silk scarf on your bag, or wrapped around your boot is still giving "cool" without any PTSD.

One thing that's surprised me lately is that my social feeds (which are usually all fashion) have been flooded with fragrance content. People are finding signature scents, building fragrance wardrobes for different seasons and occasions, and layering perfumes to create something that's completely their own.

Honestly, I think that's the biggest takeaway from everything I'm seeing right now. Style feels less about chasing trends and more about creating something that's uniquely yours—and nothing is more personal than your own fragrance. Start layering your perfumes. Not only does it create a scent that's unique to you, but it also gives the bottles collecting dust on your vanity a second life. Plus, when someone asks what fragrance you're wearing, you get to tell them your custom little potion instead of simply naming one off.

Pro tip: I talked about this before, but you can do the same thing in your home by layering candle scents to create an instant ambiance!

As always...do the absolute most while somehow doing the least.
